The Watson Season 1 Finale certainly set the bar high for the medical drama.
However, if we’ve learned anything from the cast, it’s that they are always up for a challenge.
One thing viewers can count on is that they won’t soon forget that incredible twist with Randall Park‘s James Moriarty.

As TV Fanatic promised, we have one more part from the original Morris Chestnut interview about the ending of Watson’s premiere season.
Suffice it to say, Chestnut was just as surprised as the rest of us — except he did it far more smoothly.

Watson, both the series and the titular character, certainly veered away from audience expectations in the best way possible, but did you know John Watson was going to “let Moriarty die”?
“I didn’t know. I didn’t know until I read the script. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. And plus, you know, once we start going, there’s so much going on.

“It was maybe two days before we started episode eight, and I’m still on seven that I had to read.
“So, I’m not ahead, and I don’t ask Craig, ‘Hey, what’s going to happen?’ Because I like to discover it like the audience when I read the script.
“So, I didn’t know that it was going to happen that way, that John was going to take his life. But I thought it was very appropriate.”

“I thought it was a finality to the storyline in Season 1. However, it opens a lot of conflict, a lot of doubts, a lot of emotions, and thoughts for Season 2.
“Because after you cross the line like that as a doctor, where do you go? You can’t just act like nothing happened. You can’t just act like you didn’t just kill somebody.
“And, you know, even still, once you kill somebody, that type of power, how is it going to affect you?
“I mean, is Watson going to like that he killed someone? Is he going to — I mean, we’re not doing Dexter, but hey, maybe some elements of that could come in, you know?”

With Tika Sumpter joining the Holmes team during the pulse-pounding, edge-of-your-seat finale and a last shot of her cooking gumbo for Watson on their third date, should viewers accept that Watson and Mary have already had their love story?
“Well, I can say this. I can say that Watson will always love Mary.

“I think that Leila, who Tika portrays, possesses a lot of characteristics that Watson respects and a lot of characteristics that could make her the one to make him move away and finally let Mary go.
“Is she going to be the one? I think that remains to be seen. But Tika can make gumbo.”

As an Executive producer of Watson, what direction and stories are you hoping to bring to the series? Can fans expect even more Sherlock Holmes cameos, references, and Easter eggs?
“Oh, that’s a good question. So, Craig has everything in his head, and we have discussed a few things for Season 2, but he hasn’t gone in depth. I’m going to hear it next week.”
As amazing as the ending to Watson Season 1 was, it was a big swing — especially for loyal fans of the original Sherlock Holmes Stories and characters.
Did you think the writers went too far with Watson?

When the series returns, will you tune in for CBS‘s Watson Season 2?
