Big Brother is back! And it could be the most exciting season yet.
We have waited many months for news about the next season, and the first details have finally dropped.
Not only is Big Brother Season 27 starting earlier than it has lately (July 10 this year), but we are also getting bonus episodes this summer.

Big Brother Fans Are in for a Treat This Summer
Die-hard Big Brother fans like yours truly are going to be inundated by content from CBS this summer.
And that’s a great thing.
- Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 Episode 6 Delved Into Stabler’s Past, But Didn’t Move Forward On Its Most Important Storyby Jack Ori
- Criminal Minds: Evolution Unleashes The Zookeeper and Breaks Our Heartsby Carissa Pavlica
- Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 21 Unleashes Dark Voight & Reid Delivers Shocking Intelligence Blow in Penultimate Hourby Jasmine Blu
The familiar format returns, in part, with new episodes airing on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each week.
But here’s where it gets really fun.

CBS will bless us with 90-minute episodes on Wednesday nights, which is a massive step in the right direction for the reality competition show. Longer episodes worked well for Survivor.
Wednesday episodes frequently feel rushed, with so much ground to cover in a typical one-hour installment.
We will see everything that goes into a week of play, including the lead-up to the weekly Veto Competition.
Typically, the show rushes the players from the Veto Competition to the Veto Meeting during those Wednesday episodes, but in real-time, there are almost 48 hours between the two events.

More Big Brother Season 27 Comes on Friday Nights
CBS has also announced that it will feature a Friday night Big Brother episode every other week.
These Friday night installments will bring back some of our favorite houseguests from the past as they discuss how the season has progressed.
On those Friday episodes, we will see many interesting faces, and they will also include bonus footage we haven’t seen in prior episodes.

That bonus footage means we won’t have to be pinned to the Live Feeds every night, and that CBS viewers will see much more coverage than in the past.
I think the producers’ choice to give fans a chance to see footage that used to be available only through a subscription to the Big Brother Live Feeds is a good one.
This is all good news, and I cannot wait to see how the producers start rolling things out this summer.

Unfortunately, the Big Brother Season 27 cast has yet to be revealed, so we have many weeks to wait until then.
If they follow the playbook from previous summers, we might not learn who plays on Big Brother Season 27 until early July.

Additionally, we will get much more Big Brother during the summer months than in recent years, which will not interfere with fall programming.
Seasons dragged out too long into the fall, so having more primetime coverage in July is a nice change.
Big Brother: Unlocked on Friday Nights
July 25 marks the first episode of Big Brother: Unlocked on Friday nights.
CBS is advertising that former Big Brother All-Stars will visit every other week to discuss the season.
Three new familiar faces will show up each time to debate the progress of the house.

Big Brother: Unlocked episodes will include unseen broadcast footage from the house, exclusive interviews, surprise guest appearances, and new behind-the-scenes access.

I can’t wait to see who comes back for the roundtables, but hopefully, the producers will not limit themselves to recent alums.
Get ready, everyone, because we might be on the cusp of the best Big Brother season we have seen in years.
Still here? You’re our kind of people.
