Ghost Rider Among Two New Marvel Dramas Ordered at Hulu

Hulu is expanding its relationship with Marvel Television.

The streamer, which already has Marvel's Runaways, has confirmed two new Marvel dramas will be taking flight on the service in the future.

Marvel's Ghost Rider and Marvel's Helstorm are two brand new live-action series

"Marvel’s Ghost Rider, also known as Robbie Reyes, is a quintessential antihero, consumed by hellfire and supernaturally bound to a demon," according to the official logline.

"Reyes lives on the Texas/Mexico border and when he unleashes the Rider, Robbie brings vengeance for the innocents he encounters, but struggles to control the power he wields."

The series is executive produced by Ingrid Escajeda, who will serve as showrunner, Paul Zbyszewski, and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb.

The character of Ghost Rider most recently appeared on the small screen during Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4, but Hulu's iteration will be a different take than that version of the character.

As for Marvel's Helstrom, "Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer," reads the official synopsis.

"The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity — each with their attitude and skills."

This series is executive produced by Paul Zbyszewski, who will serve as showrunner and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb.

Given that Netflix has severed ties with Marvel TV, it looks like Hulu could be home to multiple Marvel series in the coming years.

Hulu has also revealed that it has expanded its subscriber base to more than 28 million accounts. Of those, 26.8 million are monthly paid subscribers, while 1.3 million are promotional accounts.

“Hulu’s continued growth, as well as the shows and initiatives announced today, reflect our deep investment in product, programming, brand, customer experience and business strategy to ensure that with Hulu, consumers can connect with the stories they love, at the right time and price, on any device.”
