Tonight’s installment of When Calls the Heart exceeded my expectations and was on par with the early episodes of Season 12.

Many characters were used well on When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 10.

While there was room for improvement, many arcs neared completion, and new ones began.

Among other things, McGinty showed his true colors by suing Lucas and threatening Allie with a trespassing fine, and one of the highlights was seeing the men of Hope Valley band together.

Georgie McGill (Melissa Gilbert) also returned for more answers about the gold. She and Rosemary started off on the wrong foot but grew to respect one another.

The spoilers and weekly promo hinted that Jack went missing, but that’s not the story we got. Let’s dig in a little deeper.

McGinty Played His Cards Wrong When He Went After Hope Valley’s Own

McGinty assumed he had everyone under his thumb.

However, everyone banded together when McGinty sued Lucas. Edie quit, and Nathan supported and accompanied him as he accompanied McGinty.

McGinty was one of those bullies who liked to taunt and threaten, including insinuating that he was reclaiming the Martel Ranch and that Allie was a troublemaker who snooped on his land.

Watching Nathan and Lucas hold each other back from pummeling McGinty as he insulted their friends and family was amusing.

This time, they were united.

Part of me felt for Allie. She was finally excited about studying wolves and wanted to protect their habitat.

While she shouldn’t have trespassed on McGinty’s land, her heart was in the right place, and I’m glad the others recognized that they wanted McGinty to pay for his mistakes, too.

Oliver Showed His Worth By Knowing That Mountie Handbook

Since arriving at the beginning of the season, Oliver has been eager to prove his worth. He’s amusing when he knows the Mountie handbook. That’s his Bible.

He’s also observant, and considering that ash trees were mentioned more than once, Lee Coulter and his sawmill were connected.

Lee was brilliant. He knew he could press charges against McGinty but could help several more people if he forced McGinty to take a deal instead.

Bill and Henry had proof that McGinty had stolen those trees to block access to the old pasture, proving the kids’ theory.

He had become a greedy monster, threatening Edie Martel and the rest of the ranchers, and it needed to end.

While Bill told Nathan and Allie that the charges against her were dropped, the others had yet to be officially confirmed.

Allie and Oliver have had some of the best storylines this season, and I’m glad to see some of the younger generation fleshed out more.

However, I’d still like to learn more about some of their friends.

Bill and Georgie Have Something Special, and We Want More

Georgie McGill (Melissa Gilbert) appeared only twice during When Calls the Heart Season 12, but those appearances teased Georgie and Bill’s chemistry and connection, making us long for more.

Initially, Georgie was a stickler for rules and disliked that Rosemary was privy to certain information about the Garrison Gang case. 

This was likely because Georgie worked primarily with men, which led to her frequently proving herself to others.

The women got along seamlessly once she saw how hard Rosemary worked and that Bill trusted her.

It’s just another reason Georgie should return. It took years for her and Bill to be honest about their feelings.

Georgie admires how he treats women and respects how she sees the bigger picture. They’re a winning combination in solving crimes and in life.

We haven’t seen Bill look that lovingly at a woman in years.

When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 10 Answered Several Questions About Supporting Characters, But It Wasn’t Enough

When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 10 addressed several concerns I had about the series’ massive cast and equal story arcs, but it still felt unfinished.

Emily thought she would be a teacher like Elizabeth and was heartbroken she had missed the application deadline for Teachers’ College. 

She struggled to find a final project until Henry mentioned her idea of using sawdust to keep the saplings alive.

Integrating Henry as her mentor has been fantastic for both since many viewers enjoy multigenerational stories.

Emily will learn a great deal by shadowing the local Hope Valley businesses, and we hope to see her grow.

The Harvest Festival storyline was humorous and heartwarming. Hope Valley is a community that celebrates togetherness and friendship, and everyone often wants to be included.

However, Mike wanted an intimate dinner to surprise Mei with another honeymoon. I’m glad they addressed the need for another and allowed them to combine their traditions and celebrate with their friends.

While Ned, Florence, Molly, and Jed were still pop-up characters, they were appropriately used for the festival.

Why weren’t Lucas and Edie at the Harvest Festival? It seems unfair that Lucas was left out of a community event, considering how many he used to hold at the Queen of Hearts.

He should have been there, especially after the win against McGinty. That’s partially his victory.

Little Jack Has Symptoms of a Heartbreaking Condition

Little Jack was growing up, so it made sense that he grew more tired in class and preferred playing ball with the older boys versus hanging out with Nathan.

When you’re a little kid, you always wanted the older neighborhood kids to pay attention to you. The boys felt awful when Jack got lost chasing a fly ball in the woods. Unfortunately, he didn’t get lost. He collapsed from weakness.

Even though she tried to hide it, you could tell that both Faith and Mei were concerned by Little Jack’s symptoms.

Diabetes in the early 1920s was like a death sentence. Doctors didn’t even try injecting insulin into a child until 1922, and soon after, they started developing enough to help.

But before then, patients with diabetes had to adhere to a strict diet, which would be difficult for a young child who’s always hungry.
