Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Canceled? HBO Max Drops "Series Finale" Trailer

It looks like Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is already preparing for its endgAme.

Two new episodes of the horror-tinged next chapter in the Pretty Little Liars universe dropped Thursday morning.

And, at the end of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 Episode 7, a trailer for the final three episodes of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 kicked off.

While the clip teases a dangerous finale for the liars, something else caught the attention of fans everywhere.

"The series finale" was shown in the video, hinting that HBO Max has opted to cancel the series after just one season.

Having watched the final three episodes, TV Fanatic can confirm the show doesn't wrap up in a bow, so it's clear there is a desire from the creatives to continue the show.

Unfortunately, we may not get another season.

Now, this could all be an error on HBO Max's part, and it's possible the streaming service has not decided on the show's future.

However, this month, the future of the scripted originals on the service with the "Max Originals" branding have been called into question.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced last week it would be merging HBO Max and Discovery+ next summer.

Ahead of that announcement, The Wrap reported that as much as 70% of the streamer's development staff would be laid off.

As a result, it certainly made it seem like plenty of the shows were on the chopping block.

However, it's hard to believe a decision has been made on Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.

The series put a new spin on the franchise when it launched late last month, and the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.

Original Sin has a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the buzz has been relatively strong.

Ravenswood and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, the other two shows in the franchise, were canceled after single seasons.

"Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart," the logline teases.

"Now, in present day, a disparate group of teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin committed by their parents two decades ago...as well as their own."

The main cast includes Chandler Kinney as Tabby Haworthe, a horror movie buff, and aspiring filmmaker.

Zaria plays Faran Bryant, a ballerina with the ambition to make it out of the town for good. Malia Pyles is Minnie Honrada, a young woman who survived childhood trauma.

The rest of the cast includes Alex Aiono as Shawn, Mallory Bechtel as Karen, and Eric Johnson as Sheriff Beasley.
